The Pulwama terror attack has heightened bilateral tensions between India and Pakistan with both countries calling back their envoys. Giving a strong message to our neighbour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the time for talks with Pakistan is over. Not only he has given the security forces full freedom to retaliate, he also said that Pakistan would pay a heavy price for its misadventure. On its part, Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has said that his country will retaliate if India launches military strikes.
The responsibility of the suicide attack that killed over 42 CRPF men was claimed by Pakistan-based terror group, Jaish-e-Mohammad.
Following the attack, Twitterati in India shared tweets that showed Google Search showing Pakistani flag as the ‘best toiler paper in the world.’
Screenshots of the search results have gone viral as memes, posts and status updates on various social media sites. Here are some of such screenshots:
However, it is not yet clear whether the images and screenshots are genuine or not.

The matter prompted Google to come out with clarification, saying it has not found any evidence that Google was ranking the Pakistan flag in response to this search.
Here is what it said:
“While we continue to investigate the matter, we have not found any evidence that Google Images was ranking the Pakistani flag in response to this particular search. Many news outlets wrote about an old screenshot from a meme website that is inconsistent with our UI and dates back to 2017, and we have not seen any independent verification that these results ever appeared as depicted. Since these news stories published, images from those articles are now ranking for this query, as the pages contain words relevant to the search.”
In the past too, when searched for the world “idiot” the search engine showed images of US President Donald Trump. Moreover, the words “Feku” and “Pappu” gave images of PM Modi and Congress President Rahul Gandhi respectively.
