Pat Farmer, an Australian ultra-marathon legend and former Australian Member of Parliament, concluded a 4600 km journey at Kashmir.
The 53-year-old started his journey on January 26 finishing his 64 days marathon on March 29 after taking his last steps at historic Mugal Garden Nishat.

Farmer was running under ‘Spirit of India Run’, an initiative to raise money for disadvantaged girls.
He has run an average of 80 kilometres every day for 65 days, heading north along the west coast of India before turning inland to pass through Agra and Delhi, then continuing north through Chandigarh and on to Srinagar.

A few days back, Farmer had collapsed from severe dehydration but insisted on visiting a school at the end of the day before going to hospital for an IV drip to replace fluids.
Along this journey, he passed deserts, beaches, jungles, mountains, cities and highways, facing high humidity, drenching rain and thunderstorms.
He also visited the famous Taj Mahal and Mahatma Gandhi’s home in Ahmedabad on the banks of the Sabarmati river. People were excited to see him and he had the support of anywhere from 20 to 200 people running with him at any given time.

After reaching Kashmir, Farmer said that he has never imagined it would be such a beautiful place. He called the day historic for him as he finished his journey here.
He said that he will promote Kashmir for tourism on his social networking sites including Twitter and his personal website.
