“The dispute of Kashmir has international recognition. It is not an internal matter of India. Such an assertion is a violation of UN Security Council’s Resolutions,” The Express Tribune quoted Zakira, as saying.

He said the current situation on the Indian side of Kashmir is a manifestation of what Kashmiris wanted, their right to self-determination.

A senior Foreign Office official said Islamabad has directed all diplomatic missions, in important parts of the world, to brief the host governments about the current situation in Kashmir.

Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz expressed “deep shock” over the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani, and criticized the use of “excessive” force against civilians in the Valley. On July 11, Pakistan summoned India’s high commissioner in Islamabad and expressed concern over “brutal use of force” in Kashmir.

India chose to hit back, hard and said, “The statements show Pakistan’s continued attachment to terrorism and its usage as an instrument of state policy.”

Earlier, PM Modi in an address in Kenya said: “Those giving shelter to terrorists and using them as political instruments must be condemned.”
