The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has lashed out at Pakistani artistes working here to stop having double standards on terrorist attacks. The party has urged them to speak against terrorism mushrooming on their own soil.

BJP spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh said by condemning terrorism, Pakistani artists will show to the world that there are voices in Pakistan who don’t want terrorism to be part of the tool of their state politics, and do good with their country.

He said a lot of people in Indian film industry believe that you cannot adopt double standards of condemning Paris attacks but forgetting Uri attacks.

In view of the raging debate of Pak actors working here in India, Pakistani actor Mahira Khan said that she “condemns any act of terror, no matter which soil it is on”.

“I will not rejoice in bloodshed and war. I will always hope for and dream of a world where my child can live without it, and always plead with everyone to imagine a peaceful world,” she said.

Earlier, actor Fawad Khan talked about coming together to build “a more peaceful world.”

As of this moment, the ban on Pakistani artists from working in Indian films by the IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association) stands intact though films which are already complete with Pak actors in them, such as Fawad Khan-starrer Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Mahira Khan-starrer Raees will not be stopped from releasing.

On the Indian side, Ajay Devgan has said he would not share any artistic space with Pakistani actors in the current situation, while director Farah Khan, has said that she would prefer to cast “somebody from my own country”.
