Hyperloop One announced that it successfully completed the first full-scale test of its Hyperloop technology. The test, announcement of which came this Wednesday, was conducted by the company in a vacuum environment in its test track in Nevada on May 12. Hyperloop is the first new mode of transportation invented after a period of over a century.

Hyperloop is an integrated structure that allows movement of passengers and cargo between two places efficiently, immediately, safely and sustainably. According to the report of the success of the test that was originally published in The Verge, the company also released a picture of the internal pods of Hyperloop which can be seen below.

Made up of carbon fiber and aluminum, the aerodynamic Hyperloop pod is 28 feet long and makes use of electromagnetic propulsion and magnetic levitation technology. In the test, the pod reached a speed of 113 km per hour, which is quite close to supersonic speeds down the length of test track.
The company also shared a video of the low-speed test of the breakthrough Hyperloop technology on its YouTube channel, which proved that it is a real thing.
Next up for Hyperloop One is the next phase of testing for the Hyperloop pods, with a target speed of over 400 km per hour. This however, is still short of what Elon Musk finds Hyperloop technology capable of, that is a whopping 1200 km per hour!
It is interesting to note that Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) is in talks to create a high-speed travel network in five states of India. The Financial Express reports that the company is discussing a local partnership and an academic institution with an Indian corporate house and plans to raise an amount of approximately Rs. 645 crore.
The idea behind such a partnership is to create a transportation network between major cities of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, etc. to get the travel time between these cities reduced to as low as an hour. If this happens, it will be one of the biggest revolutions in the transportation sector of the country!
