‘Sir, I am not supposed to tell you that’. Yes, the words were spoken by IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was recently released from Pakistan’s captivity. The pilot chased Pakistan’s F-16 flight with his MiG 21 after the former infiltrated India’s border. He gunned down the flight but his own jet suffered engine failure. Soon he ejected but landed in the PoK side of Kashmir. He was captured by Pakistani Army. Finally, foreign and Indian pressure compelled Pakistan to release this brave soldier.
Soon after his capture, three videos got released. In one of the videos, an army man from Pakistan started interrogating him. Maintaining his poised demeanor, the soldier replied ‘Sir, I am not supposed to tell you that’. The videos were later pulled down as they were violating Geneva Conventions.
However, that didn’t deter the netizens from picking this line as their new emotional expression. While some expressed intense emotions and patriotism using this line, there are others who used it in a much lighter note. Here are some of the tweets that used it in various situations.

On March 1, when he walked through Wagah-Attari border, India once again saw the composure and poise of the solider. He returned home after spending almost 60 hours in Pakistani soil. Naturally, the whole nation rejoiced when he touched the soil of India.
Coming back to the line ‘Sir, I am not supposed to tell you that’, do you think it has taken a form of emotion? Our comments section is open for you.
