External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj addressed the United Nation General Assembly and spoke on a number of issues while focusing on terrorism.

Giving a strong reply to Pakistan PM, Swaraj said India only tried to strengthen ties, but in return has got Pathankot, Uri, Bahadur Ali.

“What conditions is Pakistan talking about…our prime minister went to Lahore to wish Nawaz Sharif on his birthday…it was not on any condition,” she said.

She said that terrorism is the biggest violation of human rights and the country which is not willing to fight it must be isolated.

“It’s important to ask- who is behind this and who benefits from it? Terrorists don’t own banks or weapons factories, so let us ask the real question: who is that finances these terrorists, who arms them and provides sanctuatries,” she added.

Further, she talked about sanitation and poverty.  Stating sanitation as a big issue, she said that India has started ‘Swacch Bharat Abhiyan’ under which 4 lakh toilets are built in 2 lakh schools.

“Today the biggest challenge all of us face is the poverty prevalent in all corners of the world,” she added.
